Very Rare Blue & White Pottery Bubby Pot

Here we have a very rare Doctor Hugh Smiths Bubby Pot with blue and white transfer of Vesuvius. Hugh Smith worked for Middlesex Hospital and came up with his milk pot around 1768. With the invention of mass produced creamware pottery in the 1770,s the design was then made available to the masses having previously only been made in silver. The pot was a big success and lasted into the 1830,s when the boat shaped examples took over. Due to the nature of its design very few complete undamaged examples exist worldwide and this is a rare find. Height 5.5 inches. Good condition. C1810/20.
